The Northside CommUNITY Project has the goal of bringing together the increasingly diverse communities of the Northside. With your help it will identify and catalogue neighborhood assets, connect people and resources, and address the challenges facing the Northside positively, looking forward.
Thanks to a grant from the Neighborhood Leadership Training Program Fund of the Central New York Community Foundation, on Saturday, October 8, 2011 we held what we hope will be become an annual festival in historic Schiller Park, celebrating the arts, music, sports, and rich cultural diversity growing on the Northside of Syracuse.
Hundreds joined us for fun, song, dance, miniature golf, presentations by groups and agencies serving the Northside, an exhibition soccer tournament between the Burmese and Bhutanese teams of the new Syracuse United Soccer Association, free food and beverages including great Leihs & Steigerwald hot dogs and Peppino’s Pizza. The opportunity to meet neighbors, old and new, was welcomed by all.
This is just the beginning. Please join us in planning for next year, leave feedback, make suggestions. The only thing that can’t be improved upon next year is the weather.
